HOOD & HUSTLE CLOTHING RELEASE X I.AM ART DISPLAY

This past Saturday was the official release party for upcoming clothing brand Hood & Hustle at EQPT in Tukwila. Featured was artist I.AM and brew and refreshments were provided for anyone that decided to come through and have a look. I got a few minutes to sit down with owner and founder of Hood & Hustle, Steven Letourneau, and got some insight on the brand and future projects.

Q. Describe the concept of Hood & Hustle.

A. Hood & Hustle is a Northwest/Seattle based lifestyle brand. The name kinda popped up in a brainstorming session and it was one of those things that grew on me. I liked the name and the idea was to create something that the name would mean and have something to build on.

Q. Hood & Hustle captures Seattle in a unique style. How has Seattle influenced the brand?

A. Hood & Hustle has a large influence from Seattle. I wanted to represent Seattle in a unique way that wasn't corny. I wanted a fresh new way to represent our lifestyle.

Q. Your first collab tee is with EQPT. How did the idea come about and why did you choose Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain as the focus for the tee?
A. Part of our first collection is a music icons collection that is done in some sort of typography. We have Eazy-E and Rick Rubin and the final two were a collaboration with EQPT, two Seattle artist, Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrixt. And that was a decision me and Sean, owner of EQPT came up with.

Q. Why did you choose to base the Hood & Hustle logo off a raccoon?

A. It sounds kinda corny but the raccoon was a childhood favorite animal of mine. But I felt like the raccoon represented the brand accordingly. Its a Northwest animal but also considered an urban animal as well. Its kinda sneaky and mischievous and I thought it represented the brand well.

Q. What are some future projects you are working on?

A. We are working on a holiday line right now and its gonna be a smaller collection. We are still developing it and have some ideas floating around, nothing concrete. Possibly a collab with Emnace in the future. Maybe this spring. We are still talking about it so we will see how it goes.

Q. If you could collab with any brand, store, or entertainer or athlete who would it be?

A. Right now I am interested in doing more work with local brands and artist. Like I said maybe we can do something with Emnace I would love to do something with them. I did the collab with EQPT,and I think that's great and I'm really happy I had a chance to do that. I'm really happy with where I am right now and just building the brand; that's about it.
